FED: Waiting times for eye surgery by state

There were 63 thousand operations for elective eye surgery in 2006, but how long you
wait depends on where you live:

* QUEENSLAND - 34 days, with four per cent waiting longer than a year.



* VICTORIA - 38 days, with one per cent waiting longer than a year.



* TASMANIA - 41 days, with 30 per cent waiting longer than a year.



*SOUTH AUSTRALIA - 68 days, with four per cent waiting longer than a year.



* WESTERN AUSTRALIA - 71 days, six per cent waiting longer than a year.



* NSW - 132 days, with nine per cent waiting longer than a year.



* ACT - 180 days, with 23 per cent waiting longer than a year.



* NORTHERN TERRITORY - 189 days, with 19 per cent waiting longer than a year.
