Bogucki won t have to pay for search or face charges

Police say Alaskan adventurer ROBERT BOGUCKI won't have to pay for his expensive rescue in
Western Australia's Great Sandy Desert.

The 33-year-old was found yesterday by a media helicopter in a maze of gorges in the remote
Edgar Ranges after trekking through the harsh terrain for a month.

Broome Police say they don't expect to lay any charges against Mr BOGUCKI or try to recoup
$35,000 they spent on the search.

Senior Sergeant GEOFF FULLER says the adventurer set out on his quest to cross the desert
on July 11, earlier than estimated, and quickly realised he was in trouble.

It's emerged Mr BOGUCKI left signs in the desert in an attempt to be found.

Local police searched for Mr BOGUCKI for two weeks without success. The Miami-based 1st
Special Response Group then mounted another search and picked up his tracks.

Sgt FULLER says Mr BOGUCKI will probably stay in Broome until the end of the week.
