Daimler-Benz engineers in Silicon Valley, Calif., will roll outa Mercedes E420 that gives drivers and passengers full Internetaccess, the New York Times reported Tuesday.
The Mercedes contains personal computers, flat-panel screensand network connections, but commercial applications are probablyfive years in the future, the newspaper said.
Drivers could have customized traffic alerts transmitted from aweb site, remote roadside assistance and other navigational aids,the newspaper said. Screens in the car would act as monitors forcomputers in the trunk, including a portable IBM Thinkpad and aSega Saturn game machine.
