Fed: McMullan prepared to sacrifice ambition for party

Labor Party frontbencher BOB MCMULLAN says he would have accepted the shadow treasury
job if it had been offered, but is prepared to sacrifice personal ambition to secure government.

Mr MCMULLAN has been given the finance portfolio in the Labor Party frontbench reshuffle,
with former leader SIMON CREAN securing the shadow treasury position.

Mr MCMULLAN had been acting in the treasury position after MARK LATHAM'S leadership win.

He says there are some significant healing gestures in leader MARK LATHAM'S new front
bench, including Mr CREAN'S position and STEPHEN SMITH as immigration spokesman.

Mr MCMULLAN has told ABC radio Mr LATHAM has demonstrated the hallmarks of good leadership
by seeking to choose the best 31 for the shadow ministry.
